Training and Education

  • CranioSacral Therapy
    • In the Upledger courses, we are given a scope of practice that is considered reasonable for our education level at each class. I have completed 3 classes in the curriculum CS1, CS2 and SER 1. Each of these courses is a 4-day class. I have been practicing since I began as a massage therapist in 2005. I have not yet taken the pediatrics class, so working with children under age 8 is out of my scope of practice.
  • Lymphatic Drainage
    • I have pursued this training through the Chikly Institute. As with Upledger, we are given a scope of practice framework in each level. I have studied through LDT3. Therefore my scope of practice includes working with anyone, except persons with lymphaedema who require bandaging or compression garments.
  • Orthopedic Massage
    • I have completed certification through James Waslaski's course (www.orthomassage.net). He now calls his course integrated manual therapy because the course teaches techniques from several different categories and integrates them into a series of protocols that restore normal pain-free range of motion without causing pain to the client during the session.

In my practice I have helped several clients with such debilitating diagnoses as frozen shoulder and carpal tunnel syndrome. I have also helped a few clients who were scheduled for joint replacement surgery but were able to cancel the surgery after remaining pain-free for several weeks following our sessions. Not all such conditions will respond as well, but it is often worthwhile to try manual therapy before extreme measures are taken.
